President Obama canceled Wednesday's planned visit to Bridgeport, leaving many residents disappointed.
"We're disappointed, but we're buoyed by the fact we were selected," said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch.
The White House says Obama canceled the trip to meet with top members of his Cabinet about the Ebola cases in Dallas. Obama was scheduled to campaign for Gov. Dannel Malloy at Central High School.
Thousands of people hoping to see the president lined up earlier this week, hoping to land one of the free tickets to the event. The state Democratic Party says the rally will be rescheduled before Election Day in three weeks. People who had tickets to Wednesday's event will get priority when tickets are handed out for the rescheduled event.
Those who have tickets and wish to get priority must turn in their tickets to one of five locations between Oct. 20 and Oct. 23.
