Bridgeport officials tell News 12 they are asking for help from Connecticut's Congressional Delegation to get two city residents safely out of Sudan.
Mayor Joe Gamin says the adult sons of City Councilwoman Samia Suliman are stuck in the country.
The two have not been able to leave due to ongoing violence. A paramilitary group has seized the airport in the country's capital of Khartoum.
Suliman is a native of Sudan and her sons were in the country to comfort a grieving family member.
Both also graduated from the University of Connecticut.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he has been in contact with officials at both the state and federal defense departments regarding evacuation efforts for American citizens.
