Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed the Milford Fabricating Plant Tuesday.
According to investigators, argon and nitrogen tanks exploded inside the plant on Erna Drive at around 9 a.m., igniting flames that ravaged the structure.
Fire officials say the fire was likely the result of an accident. However, they have yet to determine what caused the tanks to explode. The owner of the plant, Ed Pohl, says he think a laser machine used for cutting metal sparked the gas tanks.
While state and local authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosion, Pohl is trying to pick up the pieces and help his 100 employees, many of whom lost their jobs as the result of the blaze.
Pohl says several nearby manufacturing companies have offered to take on a number of his workers, and he has already looked into leasing another local building.
