Milford's Fire Marshal has ruled the fire that killed a man while sitting in his car earlier this month was an accident.
Richard Weir, 72, was inside the parked vehicle on Oct. 7 at the Connecticut Audobon Society.
Authorities say Weir tried to drive out in the sand, but got stuck and his hot exhaust pipe caused the wooden boardwalk to catch fire.
Investigators are not sure why he didn't get out of the car.
