A wrong-way driver struck a police cruiser and fled the scene in Hartford on Tuesday night.
Police identified the driver as Christopher Velazquez, who was traveling in the wrong direction in the westbound lanes around 8 p.m. Police attempted to position a cruiser to prevent a head-on collision with other drivers, but Velazquez collided with the officer's cruiser, causing it to hit a light pole.
Velazquez's car became disabled, and he fled the scene on foot. The officer involved was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
Police are still investigating the incident, and arrests are planned in connection with the case.
