Marchers took to the streets of Bridgeport Saturday amid tight security to show their support for the city's police department.
The event began with a rally on Park Avenue, as marchers gathered to show their solidarity with police.
City Councilwoman Mary McBride Lee organized the event.
"I think that this shows the community is for the police department 110 percent," says McBride.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez, who ordered the extra security, said the peaceful event was "a big success."
"This illustrates how police and communities can be together," says Perez.
Tensions between communities and police have been tense in recent weeks after police shootings in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
