One person is critically injured after an incident in Torrington.

Torrington police officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident at 2:56 a.m. along South Main Street and Tracy Avenue.

Officials say that the vehicle struck a downed tree and a parked, unoccupied vehicle.

Torrington officials added that the operator did not leave the scene.

Officials added the operator of the vehicle had life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.

A detour along South Main Street and Tracy Avenue is currently in effect due to the downed trees and wires impacting the area.
