The animal rights nonprofit organization PETA is now offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for abandoning 15 black cats on the side of the road last week.
PETA senior vice president Colleen O'Brien is urging those with information to step up saying in part. " If any other animals remain in this person's custody, they could be in imminent danger, which is why PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately."
PETA's reward is in addition to the one offered by the Stratford Animal Rescue Society, bringing the reward to $5,500.
The Stratford Police Department says it found the cats near Main Street Putney without food, water, or shelter and anyone with further information is urged to contact them.
