Bridgeport officials say a new plan will breathe new life into a vacant factory along I-95.
Mayor Bill Finch says a New York-based real estate developer has signed a deal to redevelop a five acre block along Cherry Street.
The building used to be home to the Dictaphone Corporation and has also been used to produce cigarette lighters and computer parts.
Finch says it will be converted into 300 apartments, a school and a grocery store.
