State police say a Bridgeport man has died following an accident on the Merritt Parkway in Westport.
The collision happened south in the area of exit 42 just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Mateo Gaviria was driving south and collided against the concrete barrier in the median, causing his Toyota Corolla to come to an uncontrolled stop in the left lane, according to officers. An Infiniti Q50 was driving in the left lane and struck the rear end of Gaviria's car. Gaviria was outside of his vehicle at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The couple in the Infiniti were taken to Bridgeport hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
