Norwalk police want the public's help to shed new light on a cold case from the 1970s.
The case involves the death of a man found at the former Rex Yacht Club in 1973.
Police say they found a white male, 30 to 35 years old and about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. They say an autopsy found the body had been in the water for about four to seven days, so facial identification was not possible.
They also say only partial fingerprints could be collected. The big problem though, police say, was that in 1973 there was no Automated Fingerprint ID System database to be searched, meaning investigators would need a specific name of a missing person to try and make a match.
With an increase in technology, police say both the male's dental records and fingerprints are able to be run through national databases.
In 2011 and 2014, attempts to identify the male were unsuccessful. Police hope the cold case will finally be solved thanks to database updates and social media activity.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the cold case line or submit an anonymous tip online.
