A Bridgeport man who was shot on Iranistan Avenue last week died on Wednesday, police say.

Police said 26-year-old Jevoun Rodney was shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries.

The shooting happened last Wednesday in broad daylight, according to police reports.

“The Bridgeport Police Department's thoughts and prayers go out to Jevoun's family and friends,” the department wrote on Facebook.

Friends and family held a vigil on Iranistan Avenue on Wednesday to show respect for the Rodney.

Hommy Rodriguez, 45, was arrested by Bridgeport police and will appear in court next month.

Rodriguez was previously charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a firearm but Bridgeport police say his charges will be updated to include murder.

His bond is set at $1.5 million.
