Stratford police said Wednesday that they charged a man with trying to abduct his girlfriend and then setting her car on fire after they broke up.
Police say with the help of surrounding towns, they found 29-year-old Pedro Oristanio, of Darien, in New Canaan hours after his girlfriend broke up with him.
They say Oristanio's girlfriend had just broken off their relationship and came to the home of her ex-boyfriend, with whom she has a child.
Police say Oristanio showed up at the Kings College Place home and set the car on fire. They say he also threatened to set the home on fire as well.
"She refused to leave. He tried to force her to leave, which did not work, so she got back into the house and called police and by the time the officers arrived there, he had already set the car on fire and fled," says Capt. Frank Eannotti, of the Stratford Police Department.
No one was injured.
