A Derby woman has died following a crash Thursday morning in Orange, police say.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. on Derby Milford Road near the University of New Haven Orange campus.

Police say 59-year-old Catherine Mis was traveling southbound when her car left the road and struck a utility pole.

Mis was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Police say Mis was the only person in the car at the time.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact police at 203-891-2130 ext. 8246.

Officials say the pole is being replaced and construction is expected to last until about midnight. The road remains open to traffic.
