Stamford police say a female jogger is recovering in the hospital after she was attacked at Cove Island Park Friday morning.
Authorities say the suspect assaulted the victim twice over a 10- to 15-minute period.
They say the perpetrator grabbed the 30-year-old jogger from behind, threatened her with a weapon and sexually assaulted her. They say he then dragged her down near the water line and sexually assaulted her again.
Investigators say the victim was able to run home and call the authorities.
Police say the suspect is a Hispanic man of medium build. They say he's about 35-40 years old with light skin and an unshaven beard.
Police say the victim noticed her attacker, but didn't pay attention to him because she thought he was a fellow jogger.
They tell News 12 Connecticut that the victim was sent to Stamford Hospital for treatment.
Police are advising residents not to come to the park alone in the early morning hours.
