Police in Bridgeport are searching for the person who shot a man Wednesday morning.
Police say the suspect shot 35-year-old Javon Tomlinson at 345 Benham Ave. at about 2 a.m. Tomlinson was shot three times, twice in the torso and once in the leg. He was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
Bridgeport police detectives say they were able to speak with Tomlinson, who explained that a masked gunman shot him as he was opening the door of his apartment.
According to the authorities, the victim?s girlfriend, who was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, says she heard a struggle in the hallway, followed by the sound of several gunshots. When she went to the door, she saw Tomlinson fighting with a man in dark clothing.
Police say a gun was recovered at the scene of the crime. According to investigators, the motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined.
