An attempted burglary occurred in Torrington on Monday morning, police say.

A man rang the doorbell and then walked around a house on Eno Avenue, getting in through an open kitchen window.

The noise woke up a teenage girl who lives there, which led to a verbal exchange, before the would-be burglar left.
