Police say a man stole a designer purse and wallet worth thousands of dollars from a customer at Stew Leonard's on Westport Avenue in Norwalk.
Officers say the suspect took a Prada purse and a Gucci wallet valued at more than $6,000 from a shopping cart on Dec 2.
They say the man then fled in a white sedan with a sun roof.
Police say that during the busy holiday shopping season, such thefts are common. They say shoppers should leave valuables secured in their trunks, locked and out of sight, while shopping. They also say people should carry their purses over the shoulder.
Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Norwalk police.
