A Milford police officer was found dead in his home early Monday morning.
Milford Police Chief Keith Mello announced that Officer Michael Compare, 36, died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Chief Mello called Compare's death a tremendous loss for the department.
Police say that Compare was found in his condominium with a gunshot wound at around 1:15 a.m.
Officials also say that someone called 911. Compare later died in the hospital.
They believe this was an isolated incident.
