A New Canaan police officer accused of killing dogs and keeping illegal explosives at his Naugatuck training facility has been arrested again and is facing new charges stemming from an animal abuse investigation.

Police: New Canaan officer accused of killing dogs and keeping illegal explosives arrested on new charges
A New Canaan police officer accused of killing dogs at his K9 training facility in Naugatuck and keeping illegal explosives at his home in Stratford has been arrested again and is facing new charges stemming from an animal abuse investigation.
David Rivera, owner of Black Rock Canine Training facility, turned himself in on a $20,000 warrant for his arrest on charges of malicious wounding/ killing of an animal.
Police say the charges stem from the original investigation into Black Rock Canine after an additional report of animal abuse was made.Police say the owner of a dog alleged that their dog was injured and abused after it was in the care of Rivera's training facility in 2021.
Rivera is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.
