A person was killed in a crash early Thursday on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho, police say.
They say it happened shortly after 3 a.m. when a 2012 Chevy Suburban, driven by 49-year-old Kenneth Young, was traveling eastbound in the right lane when he lost control of the vehicle.
Police say the vehicle overturned and struck the rear of a 2023 Dodge delivery van that was pulled over to the side of the expressway. A 2019 Freightliner then struck the Chevy Suburban, which had come to a halt in the right lane.
Nassau County police medics pronounced Young, of Brooklyn, dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash closed all eastbound lanes from exits 39 to 41 for hours following the crash.
