Authorities have released the name of the Fairfield police officer who was involved in a deadly shooting at the scene of a violent domestic incident Tuesday morning.
Police say Officer Sean Fenton had no idea of the violent scene awaiting him on Mountain Laurel Road after a 13-year-old girl called 911. They say Fenton shot and killed the girl's father, 51-year-old attorney Christopher Andrews.
Andrews allegedly refused orders to drop a knife in his driveway after attacking his wife and three children.
Fenton is now on administrative leave, as per standard protocol, while state police detectives piece together the case. He may return to duty once he's cleared by a psychologist.
Fenton is a 26-year veteran of the force with 35 commendation letters. Last summer, he was credited with helping a 19-year-old car crash victim.
