A Shirley man was arraigned Monday for a stabbing at Adventureland that left a man in critical condition.
According to police, two men who are known to each other were involved in a dispute involving several people at the amusement park in East Farmingdale around 5 p.m. Sunday.
Police say that is when Daniel Tomasky stabbed James Burns in the abdomen with a folding knife. There was at least one child present at the time of the altercation, according to police.
Burns, 47, of Edgewater, Florida, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center.
Tomasky, 42, of Shirley, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
A video sent by a News 12 viewer shows the victim clutching his bleeding stomach.
A liquid is also seen being thrown at Burns as he was heading toward the exit with park safety also nearby.
Orders of protection were granted for Burns, his two children and one other unnamed child.
Tomasky’s defense attorney George Duncan says the victim attacked the suspect’s wife and knocked her out.
The area of the park where the stabbing happened was closed while police concluded its investigation, but reopened by 8 p.m.
A spokesperson said the park was operating under regular hours on Monday.
If convicted on the top charge, Tomasky faces up to 25 years in prison. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
According to Duncan, his client posted bail.
