A Trumbull man has been charged after illegally dumping thousands of pounds of construction debris in Bridgeport, police say.

They say the man left glass, electrical cables and concrete right outside homes in the community on Monday afternoon.

Neighbors banded together and physically blocked the only exit to the empty property so that the man could not leave until police arrived.

The Stratford man was charged for illegal dumping and had his dump truck towed. Police say the man owns the vacant lot, but that does not give him the right to engage in illegal dumping.

Some in in the community say they were "truly outraged" about what they say happening outside their window.
Police say they take anti-blight laws very seriously because Bridgeport is nobody's trash can.
