Easton police say a black bear was struck by a car on Route 136 and needed to be euthanized yesterday.
The 125-pound bear had Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection tags No. 211.
News 12 previously reported on "Bear 211," which had developed an online following after sightings in Trumbull and Greenwich, and even in New York.
Police say the bear needed to be put down due to its serious injuries. The vehicle that hit the bear was not at the scene of the accident, which happened west of Wilson Road.
