A popular shopping spot in Westport will be closing its doors after the holidays.
Silver of Westport is known for selling the best luggage in town. Brother and sister co-owners Stephen and Susan Silver are the third generation to run the local gem, which has been around for 111 years.
The store opened in Bridgeport in 1904 and found a permanent home in Westport back in 1951.
In the last year, the owners say that it has been financially difficult to stay afloat. They say the convenience of online shopping is running them out of business.
The two say that they want to retire with pride and thank their customers for being a part of the family business throughout the years.
The owners say they will remain open shortly after the new year, and they are offering discounted prices on everything in the store.
