A raging fire destroyed a home and killed the family's dog in Pleasantville overnight
Fire officials say that flames broke out at a home on Bedford Road just after 1 a.m. Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the home.
The two people inside were able to safely escape.
A police officer suffered smoke inhalation.
The fire chief say the fire was sparked by a space heater too close to combustible materials.
