The Redding Police Department has been removed from a lawsuit filed against officers claiming their negligence may have led to the death of a suicide victim last year.
Peter Valenti was found hanging from his shed back in April of 2016.
The suit filed by the family claims Chief Doug Fuchs and other officers delayed paramedics from checking on Valenti.
Valenti's wife, Paula, died from an asthma attack four weeks before the hanging, and the family believes he was unable to go on without her.
Fuchs has been on paid administrative leave since news of the lawsuit broke.
