Local communities fighting the FAA's controversial new flight plan over southwestern Connecticut got some high-powered reinforcements.
Governor Jodi Rell and Attorney General Robert Blumenthal joined local leaders in filing a lawsuit against the FAA on behalf of the state.
Ten towns in Fairfield County and one in New York have banded together in the battle against the FAA. Representatives from each town packed into New Canaan Town Hall Thursday and learned the state will be filing a suit as well.
The FAA plans to redirect flights in and out of the major New York airports over southwestern Connecticut and its neighborhoods. Rell and Blumenthal say more bothersome than the noise and pollution is that the plan is against the law. They say the federal agency didn't do its homework in preparing the plan, so they're also filing the suit to try and prevent it from ever getting off the ground.
