Republican leaders are voicing concerns over potential increases in water bills following Eversource's proposed sale of Aquarion Water to the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA).

According to data from the last decade, RWA's rates have surged by 40%, in stark contrast to Aquarion's increase of just 8.5%.

State Rep. Tracy Marra (R-Darien) commented, "Yes, your rates may go up. The infrastructure had to be purchased, and as new customers of RWA, we will ultimately bear the cost."

RWA counters these concerns by stating that their rates are subject to approval by a public board, which includes representatives from every town they serve.

However, the sale of Aquarion to RWA still awaits approval from state regulators.
