The condition of a Stratford beach that some say hasn't been cleaned in years has residents fuming.
Many of the residents are pointing a finger at Mayor Jim Miron, who they say needs to step in and help with the cleanup.
A few beachgoers who sunbathe on Long Beach Park's sand say they refuse to get in the water. Trash, beer cans and even a tire lay on the beach. John Morthanos says the stretch hasn't been cleaned in about three years.
"I usually bring a rake with me and a plastic bag," he says. "I clean up the area where we stay at the other end of the beach."
The locals who frequent the beach say years of neglect have left the sand with an overwhelming amount of shells that make it unbearable to walk or sit on.
Miron's office has not responded to a request for comment.
