Organizers cut the ribbon Tuesday ahead of the 39th annual Norwalk Oyster Festival.
The festival is being set up at Veterans Park in Norwalk. It's run by the Norwalk Seaport Association and will raise money to help restore the Sheffield Island Lighthouse.
Organizers say the entire festival is put on by 1,000 volunteers. All the old favorites, including music, food and rides, will be back this year. Special events are planned for Sunday to honor and remember first responders of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Sawyer Fredericks, who won season eight of NBC's "The Voice," will headline the event on Saturday.
Organizers are expecting 40,000 people this weekend.
