A Ridgefield couple has drummed up a new fitness program that combines perspiration and percussion.
Former Hollywood composer David De Palo and his girlfriend Jennie Carr call it JumpDrum.
"Drumming became my passion," De Palo says. "I wanted to create a counter-rhythm, like I wanted to have something steady to play against."
So he developed a percussion instrument to accomplish that.
"It was only after we got these things together and started playing them that we realized, oh my goodness, that is really a workout," Carr says.
And the workout worked out noticeably, they say.
"I eventually lost three to four inches on my waistline," De Palo says. "That's my only exercise."
They decided to make it public, and now they've opened their first studio.
"It's the kind of workout that doesn't feel like a workout," Carr says. "You feel like you're playing. You're having fun, and you know, you just want to keep playing."
