? Route 110 in Stratford re-opened Thursday after Hazmat crews finished cleaning up an oil spill from an overturned tanker.

The crash happened on the corner of Warner Road and Main Street near Sikorsky Aircraft. Officials say the Apple Oil tanker truck flipped over when the driver swerved out of the way to avoid hitting a limousine.

Fire and Hazmat crews spent the morning cleaning up the 2,500 gallons of home heating oil, some of which reached the Housatonic River. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital in stable condition. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

An Apple Oil spokesperson says the driver has been working for the company for 10 years, and believes the crash was his first.

Environmental crews were on the scene as well, focusing on securing storm drains by dumping loads of sands around the grates.

In the meantime, the Marina Unit of Stratford police was sent to inspect the water. Officers say the spill will have a minimal effect on the river.
