The holiday giving season is in full effect, and the Salvation Army is asking for additional help from the public.
It says Connecticut families are facing increased financial strain, and more residents are turning to the charity for basic needs, like heating help, rental assistance and food support.
It is urgently in need of more bellringer volunteers to run its Red Kettle operation across the state. These donation bells are located at shopping centers and stores across the state to collect donations.
To meet the demand for support, The Salvation Army is seeking to raise $650,000. The public is encouraged to text to give 3133 or visit
