Newtown officials have announced that they will begin dismantling the makeshift memorials to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
The candles, flowers and stuffed animals will be taken down next week, but will be saved and put into a permanent memorial in the future. More than $3 million has already been raised to help pay for it.
Meanwhile, state police say a final report on the shooting investigation may be months away. A motive has yet to be determined for why Adam Lanza killed his mother and 26 people at the school.
