Police in Shelton are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy.
Police were on scene on the 200 block of Division Avenue at 2:30 a.m. when they received a 911 call reporting the infant boy was not breathing.
Police say it was a family member who made the call, but they're not specifying the relationship or who was home with the baby at the time.
He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police have not disclosed the preliminary circumstances surrounding the child's death, and it's too early to tell whether anything criminal occurred.
“The incident is under investigation,” says Detective Christopher Nugent. “At this point, I can't discuss any of the details as it's ongoing.”
News 12 is told an autopsy still needs to be conducted. Receipt of results could take several weeks due to toxicology testing.
