A popular beach spot will reopen Tuesday after being closed for two days due to damage from this weekend's storms.
About 15 trees came down in Sherwood Island Park during the storms.Crews were able to clear most of them Sunday, but spent much of Monday getting the last of it taken care of.
The Westport Fire Department posted a video on social media that showed power lines that came down during Saturday's storm.
A bucket truck and wood chipper were brought in Monday to make sure every hazard is cleared away before more than 12,000 beachgoers flock there for July 4.
The damage was so extensive that state parks across the region sent workers to Sherwood Island Park to get it cleaned up in time for the holiday.
