A Sacred Heart University graduate has started a business to raise awareness of Connecticut's Move Over law.
Salena Khan recently started the company, 'Life on the Line'.
Khan told News 12 she plans to raise awareness of the state's Move Over law by bringing the towing industry together to get the word out.
The law requires drivers to slow down, and move over one lane if it's safe to do so, when approaching stationary emergency vehicles with their lights activated.
Khan said Life on the Line aims to educate the next generation of drivers. Khan said she's working with local driving schools to teach students about the importance of slowing down and moving over for towers and first responders working roadside.
Khan also plans to sell Life on the Line apparel. She said a portion of her profits will be donated to the Survivor Fund
The North Haven native works for her father's business, Nelcon Towing & Recovery. Khan said her father, sister and co-workers have had close calls. In recent years, Connecticut tow truck drivers Corey Iodice and Chris Russell were killed on the job.
Khan said it's what inspired her to create Life on the Line.
Khan plans to launch a website for Life on the Line in the next four to six weeks.
