The holidays can be a very stressful and emotional time, especially for those impacted by mental illness.

A study by the National Alliance on Mental Illness showed that 64% of people with mental illness report holidays make their conditions worse.

Dr. Jeff Katzman Director of the Silver Hill Academy for Research and Education touches on some of the following topics:

  • Managing grief, for anyone who's recently lost a loved one and experiencing the holidays now without them for the first time

  • Advice and coping mechanisms for stay sober during the holidays, for anyone who's fighting substance use disorder or just generally has chosen to live a sober lifestyle

  • Navigating challenging family dynamics

  • Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), an annually recurring period of depression that coincides with the winter months and affects about 10 million people in the U.S.
