GuardBot Inc., a Stamford-based robotics company will send four robots to Brazil next week to help with the country's agriculture.
The company's founder and owner, Peter Muhlrad, said this will be their third shipment to Brazil since they started a partnership four years ago.
"It'll be used in agriculture, on the farm where they're growing soybeans. These soybeans could grow quite high and almost form roofs. So our robots are equipped with all kinds of sensors that can drive them autonomously and navigate through the field," Muhlrad said.
There are also thermal sensors on the robots that can detect if something is wrong with a crop.
GuardBot has also worked with the Department of Defense to send robots to the military.
"It's really cool knowing that there's actually a lot of interest to get these robots out in the world," said Nils Schlein-Andersen, a development engineer at the company.
The robots are expected to ship out on Monday. They should arrive in Brazil in three weeks.
