A bitter seven-year battle between a Stamford diner owner and the city ratcheted up a notch this week after access to the owner's garbage cans was blocked off Wednesday.
According to Maria Aposporos, owner of Curley's Diner, things have been difficult for her ever since she won an eminent domain case against the city in 2002. Now she is looking for answers surrounding the latest road block.
Asposporos says she cut a part of the chain link fence behind the diner to allow easier access for garbage trucks picking up her trash cans. She says the city brought in two large concrete slabs and blocked the hole.
The concrete has prevented Asposporos from taking her garbage out back. She says she hopes the issue will be resolved so she doesn't have to carry trash bags through her diner for customers to see.
