The principal and an assistant principal of Stamford High School went before a judge Wednesday.
Police say they arrested Donna Valentine and Roth Nordin last week for not reporting an alleged sexual relationship between a former teacher and student. Both pleaded not guilty.
The former teacher, 32-year old Danielle Watkins, is charged after allegedly having sex with a student and providing drugs to him.
Officers say the school conducted an investigation and did not notify the Department of Children and Families. News 12 Connecticut obtained a copy of the police warrant in the case, which claims that Valentine asked assistant principal Matthew Forker to do surveillance of Watkins and the student, as she had suspicions about them.
It goes on to say that Valentine said in an email to the assistant superintendent of secondary schools, "I am really anxious about what may be going on with that teacher and male student."
The warrant also states that the principal told Nordin to keep an eye on Watkins and the student.
An attorney for Valentine says this was not a cover-up.
Both Valentine and Nordin are currently on paid administrative leave. They will be back in court on Oct. 21.
