U.S. Marshals arrested a Stamford man Tuesday on weapons charges and say he may be a person of interest in several recent shootings on the city's West Side.
Police say 19-year-old Tyreik Gantt is a fugitive who investigators have been tracking for several weeks. He was arrested during a raid at his aunt's house in New York City.
Police say they recovered a .32-caliber revolver with the serial number filed off. According to investigators, Gantt was seen with the weapon during an incident on Sept. 6 in the area of Selleck and Durant streets.
They say Gantt may have used the same gun on Sept. 1 near Fairfield Street when he was chasing another man and firing a pistol in the air.
Police say they believe they can now link Gantt to other shootings in that area.
Gantt is being held in New York until he can extradited back to Connecticut.
