Turn of River Middle School in Stamford was briefly placed in a shelter in place Wednesday morning in response to an altercation on school grounds.

Stamford Public School officials say first responders responded to the school during student arrival due to the altercation.

It is not clear who was involved in the altercation or what caused it.

While first responders were on site, the campus was placed in a shelter-in-place.

Officials say student drop-off was paused during that time and that students who were already in the building remained in the classrooms.

Once the shelter-in-place was lifted, drop-off proceeded as usual.
