The Stamford Police Department is looking for up to 50 recruits to shore up its dwindling ranks.
Recruits have to be at least 21 years old and have 30 college credits or equivalent military time served. They must also be able to bench press a percentage of their body weight and pass a tough written test, which usually accounts for the loss of 40 percent of applicants. Officials have made the application available online to make it easier to apply.
Officials say they are losing candidates due to war recruitment and cops retiring.
