8ds agoThe Long Island Rail Road should be better prepared for service disruptions caused by severe weather, according to an audit by state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
The audit finds that the LIRR had delayed the completion of a critical systemwide risk assessment and projects related to Superstorm Sandy.
When auditors requested to see pieces of snow removal equipment, DiNapoli says they sometimes could not be located.
The comptroller says storm-related service delays cost commuters time and money.
