State officials are stepping in to ensure that no one is left in the cold this winter.
Officials announced Thursday that they are committing $86 million to the Low-income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
They say that can only happen if Congress allocates funding. However, President Donald Trump's budget eliminates LIHEAP funding.
Meanwhile, congressional Republicans are pushing back by proposing a slight increase to the program.
