Connecticut workers could be guaranteed sick leave under a new proposal from top state Democrats Tuesday.
Currently, only certain businesses with more than 50 workers have to offer paid sick days.
Democrats want to require it for all private employers.
"Because otherwise, they might not take that COVID test because they're afraid they're going to get a positive and they can't afford a day off from work," said state Sen. Julie Kushner.
Democrats also proposed a "predictable scheduling" law that would require hourly workers to get seven days' notice before schedule changes.
Some restaurant owners say it is impossible to predict staffing that far ahead.
