State lawmakers stopped by the Americares warehouse in Stamford as it collects and distribute items used to help combat the coronavirus outbreak.
Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy joined state and local leaders for a tour of the nonprofit's fulfillment warehouse Friday. The organization is distributing medical and hygiene supplies to hot spots all over the world and within the nation.

Blumenthal says the work Americares does is important, but the federal government needs to step up as well.

"Make no mistake, we are in the midst of an epidemic that threatens the very fabric of our society, the future of our economy, and public health care. We need to meet this crisis with action now,” says Blumenthal.
